Jordin's MySpace Blog: Unexpected
FEBRUARY 23, 2008, 6:46 pm
Her name is Wendy...
...and she has Stage 4 Melanoma.
We just found out a few days ago, and she underwent surgery yesterday to remove the liquid around her lungs. She has more than 3 cancerous spots, and unless there's a miracle...she has until the fall. :(
She has been in my life for most of my adolescent years. Pretty sure since I was 12. I've seen her almost everyday since I met her. It's kind of been me, my mom and Wendy against the world. We're a trio. A group. Best friends. She's like a second mom to me, and I can tell her anything.
It's been really crazy this past year, and my mom and her have been together to help me out. All day, everyday. I love her so much, and I don't know what I would do without her. My mom and I were brainstorming and we thought it would be a great idea to take her for a week or two on tour with me. But we can't really take her anywhere until things are fixed financially.
Her situation isn't the best and her family and mine are trying to raise money for the bills that are going to be coming in. If you would like to help... please just pray for her. A little can go a long way. Also, take a look at her myspace. Send a message of encouragement, maybe even add her:Wendy

Wendy
I am soooooo sorry to hear about Wendy Jordin. It is definitely a hard time to go through. I was just wondering if there was a way that we could donate money to help you out?? If so I would like to help if I can and would like to know how. I lost my Oma when I was 5 and my Mom actually wrote a children's book that has been published...it is called Henry and Harriette. I hope that you can help Wendy and I will pray for you before I go to sleep. I am very sorry.

Help for Wendy
I hope these comments are monitored by Jodi or Jordin. Please go to www.mpip.org . The site contains links to the best resources for melanoma patients. The best treatment for someone that is stage 4 is usually a NIH/NCI trial. The treatment and services are typically free. Transportation can usually be arranged at no charge by Angel Flight. Information for the trials and Angel Flight is at the MPIP site.
My husband has had melanoma. MPIP is the place I found the best information.
We will pray for Wendy. This is a devastating disease, but please remind her that no doctor can number her days.

Im so sorry to hear about Wendy. My Uncle passed away a couple of years ago, and he was very sick, with a similar situation. But, Like funky_witch said, Miracles happen. I hope that she will get stronger, and much better. Wendy May be a miracle.

We're Donating!
Wow... that's sad. I know what it's like to lose a second mom (my Mema), so I would want anyone else to go through that. I'm not sure if it's easier to know when to say goodbye, or for it to just happen (it's hard either way). I plan to donate (and to get my parents, my brother, Granddaddy, Uncle Reggie, and anyone else that I can persuade to also donate... they have jobs... i don't). This is one of those times where I start beating myself in the head for not living my life to the fullest, and living in the now because this kind of thing happens SO quickly. Well, Wendy will definitely be in my prayers. I'm thinking about adding her to our prayer list at church (because you can never have too many people praying for your well-being). My Granddad has cancer, and he has for a REALLY long time now, so I know his time is coming. But I know with ALL of my heart that our prayers for him is what kept him around this long (because the docs didn't think he would). My Grandma Josie is easing on down the road as well, but I know that our prayers are keeping her around to hopefully see me get married. So, I know that Wendy will be OK too.
Biya!
