JS at the VMAs last night
9 September 2008
I think she was closed minded and stupid for her coment last night on the "promise rings" where she said its ok to wear promise rings and not have sex before marriage kuz you dont want to be a SLUT guy or girl.. wutever.. that is just as bad as making fun of those who do not have sex.. she could have worded it way different and not be so mean about it to anyone.. at least the host guy came back up later that night and made an apology.. even though it was in a joking way.. i mean he is a COMEDIAN.. he jokes and pokes fun at everything... anyways vma was ok.. not as great as i hoped

It doesn't matter if he is a comedien and gets payed to do it. What he said was wrong! Yeah maybe Jordin got a bit out of hand but it was nothing compared to the host.

hate to burst the bubbles of a few people on here with negitive post's but if you paid attention..aprox 85% of all the feed back to the mtv incident..were on a positive note in favor of Jordin and not aganist her...in no way has this damaged her image..in fact for the few hundred fans she may have lost she gained a few thousand more for standin up for what she believes in
Love the purity ring thing. Jordin Sparks knows who she is and what she wants out of life. We should all be so self-aware and empowered. Awesome!
I am glad Jordan said something b/c so often no one does. The comment may have been offensive but so were the jokes. You may have found it funny but what is the message sent esp. to young people. It was mentioned that she sounded closed minded but isn't it just as bad that everyone makes fun of those choosing to be abstinent. So many people I talk to think that there is no other choice than to be sexually active... where is the message that it is okay to be a virgin. Why is the connotation so negative? I am not just talking about what she said because the slut comment wasn't appropriate but if we are open to others lifestyles why do we (as a society) make fun of people choosing abstinence, unwed pregnant mothers, christians, etc... Why are they always portrayed as naive, judgmental, hypocrites in the media? Her comment may not have helped and I'm not saying I agree with it. But I would like the tired old joke to be over. It isn't funny anymore.
I agree that it was wrong of jordin to use the word "slut", but she probably said it coz she was so mad at what russell brand said. But basically i guess her point was that people that wear promise rings aren't bad and its not bad to wear those rings. =D

I totally agree with all of you! I have never ever been on a fan page before but I decided to just to leave some comments about this thing. She didn't even realize how naive and immature and stupid she was sounding, at that is the worst part. About Russell Brand's comments:
1. Its the MTV VMA's, not the golden globes. That is why they have people like Russell Brand host them.
2. None of the things that he said were even that f***ing bad. Learn to take a joke!
Really judgemental, immature, and frankly she just sounded stupid.
I agree too, I just posted a comment but I should have read the other posts before, I didn't think people felt the same. I look up to her but she basically stood there and called me a slut. Honestly, that made me lose some respect for her because it seemed like she only cared for her fans that were like her, not the ones like me.
I also completely agree with both of you. I've never gone to an artists page, or registered to leave comments or anything until I hear what she said. To assume that anyone who has sex is a slut is so naive. Having sex, or not having sex is a personal decision and is not anyone else's business. So good job Jordin Sparks for showing off your immaturity, you can be proud of your own decisions but do not have to call people names for believing something different than you.
I completely agree. People are making this huge stink about Russell's comments last night, but they're forgetting two things-
1.) He's a comedian, that's his job.
2.) MTV was originally created in the spirit of pissing off the type of people that produced and attended award shows. Now the VMAs are a production just like all the others and Russell is getting chewed out for, however briefly, reminding us of the spirit in which MTV was created.
And one last thing, which has been said a few times on this forum already- Jordin sounded really judgmental last night, effectively no better than the people she criticised.
